Charles "Charlie" Mays
Apr 10, 2018He was a member of Teays Valley Missionary Baptist Church, where he ushered and serviced the Church Busses for 30 years.He retired from Merdie Boggs & Sons after 37 years as a Tanker man.He was preceded in death by his father, Arvil Mays; mother, Ruby Payton Mays; brother, Ronald Mays; and a good friend and mentor, Jim Blake.He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dianna Kay Mays; sons, Ronnie (Rena) and Charles "Chuck" (Hester); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Thomas (Clifford "Mousie"); brother-in-law, Charles Thomas (Vicky); two sisters-in-law, Barbara Legg and Nona Thomas; several nieces and nephews, cousins; special friends, Steve Cook for over 30 years, little Hanna Harper, Tom and Rose Keefer, Nello and Justine McCallister, Cliff and Denise Webb, Roger and Natalie Bacchus, Dale and Dorothy Null, Jane Hodge, James Smith, Barry Pettry, Johnny Droddy, Mike Nickles, and his buddies at the Teays Valley Missionary Baptist Church Bus worker crew.Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Chapman Funeral Home, with Dr. John D. Smith and Pastor Paul Tuemler officiating.
